Bread Storage FAQ's

How long do Seven Stars breads last?
We bake all our breads fresh every day, so whenever you buy a loaf, you know it was baked that morning. Our breads do not contain any preservatives. All of our sticks and baguettes are best enjoyed within one day from purchasing. Our batards and rounds have a bit longer shelf life of about 3-4 days. Pan breads have the longest shelf life of 4-5 days.

What is the best way to store Seven Stars bread?
If you have leftovers, store your bread on your counter at room temp in a closed brown paper bag, cut side down. This helps maintain the integrity of the crust.  Our sliced pan loaves are best kept in a plastic bag to be used over a few days.

Did you know that you can buy half loaves of our bread?
By buying just half the loaf you may not need to freeze or store the bread.

Can Seven Stars bread be frozen?  If so, tell me more!
Yes! Most of our breads hold up quite well in the freezer, including pretzels (although the salt may look a little different!).  Freeze in a sturdy plastic bag or plastic wrap.

To defrost and enjoy: Sliced bread can be pulled directly from the freezer and reheated in the toaster or oven by the slice (no need to wait for it to defrost!). Whole bread should be defrosted at room temperature (typically takes one hour) and then sliced for toasting or placed whole in a 350 degree oven for 5 -8 minutes until the crust crisps.

Note that some bread freezes better than others. We do not recommend freezing our baguettes and sticks. Pain de Mie is best frozen sliced only.

How to bring your bread /crust back to life – especially on hot, humid days?
Spray or pat the outside crust of the bread with a little water. A spray bottle or mister works super well! Then pop it in the oven at 400 degrees for 3-5 minutes.

How long does Seven Stars pizza dough last? Can it be frozen?
Our pizza dough should be perfect for 2 days from your purchase. If you hold it longer than 2 days or freeze it, you will get more of a thin crust pizza :). When defrosting, take the dough out of the freezer and let it defrost for 3-4 hours until completely thawed, or take it out the night before and leave in your refrigerator to use the next day.
